Andean Flamingo

The Andean Flamingo (Phoenicoparrus andinus) inhabits alkaline lakes in the high Andes up to 2,500 m, from Peru to Chile, and Northwestern Argentina.

It is similar to the Chilean flamingo, but the head and neck are more pink than in other flamingos. The legs are bright yellow. The bill has a black tip and is yellow at the base.

The Andean flamingo as well as the James flamingo are extremely rare in bird collections.
